Bursting the Bubble
If you’re reading this newsletter, the chances are that you spend a reasonable amount of your time working solo – and for many of us, that’s just the way we like it. However, I’m sure I’m not the only one who sometimes has that distinct feeling of being in a bubble and craving some kind of outside perspective to redress the balance.
Fortunately, this issue has some good examples of ScotNetters doing just that and engaging with the world beyond the pages on their screens – like Auriane’s science-themed trip to Newcastle and ScotNet’s second annual encounter with hills (that were ven bigger than last year’s!). You can also check out two event reports – one from Lisa on our own spring workshop and the other from Pauline on a conference held by our counterparts over at the Chartered Institute of Linguists. Thisissue is also coming hot on the heels of another bubble-bursting event, the summer workshop – but more on that in the next issue.
