ITI Scottish Network is part of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), the UK's professional association for translators and interpreters. In addition to catering for ITI members who live in Scotland we are also open to membership for those living in England close to the Scottish border, and people who were previously resident in Scotland and wish to retain a link with other members here after moving away. Consequently, while ITI Scottish Network members live mainly in Scotland, we also have members in Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyneside, as well as further afield.
ScotNet members themselves hail from many countries of the globe and cover a wide range of languages between them, working in a broad spectrum of technical, commercial, legal and scientific disciplines, from automotive engineering to tourism and from biotech to the whisky industry.
Our members provide comprehensive language services to the Scottish and international business communities. In addition to translation and interpreting these also include terminology research, editing, subtitling, voiceovers, foreign language tuition and copywriting. If you are seeking a skilled linguist, either immediately or for a future project, please consult our directory.
The Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) is the foremost professional body in the UK for practising translators & interpreters, and the ITI Scottish Network is one of ITI's many regional groups. The Institute is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of excellence in the provision of language services to business and industry. Only translators and interpreters who have taken the Institute's examinations or are able to demonstrate a high level of competence acquired through experience may be admitted as members and they are also bound by a strict code of professional conduct.
