SUMMARY:Autumn Workshop 2021 | Polish that Profile
DESCRIPTION:Introduction\nAfter our successful hybrid summer workshop\, Sco
tNet returns with a virtual event of a different kind. Kate Sotejeff-Wilso
n will guide us in writing something eye-catching\, informative and memora
ble to represent ourselves online.\n\nAlways mean to update your ITI or Sc
otNet directory entry\, LinkedIn or the “about me” section of your web
site\, but never quite get round to it? Feel you need some feedback before
you hit “publish”?\n\nJoin us to shape up your online profile in a ve
ry hands-on morning.\n\nYou will get the most out of the workshop if you p
repare. If you have a few minutes beforehand\, look at some colleagues’
profiles to see what you’d like to change in your own. If you have a bit
longer\, read this short guide to improving your LinkedIn profile\, or wa
tch the webinar (log into MyITI first) on making the most of your ITI dire
ctory profile.\n\nYou choose whether you want to use each of the two sessi
ons to touch up different profiles\, or work in depth on just one profile
over both sessions. Either way\, on the day\, you will get invaluable inpu
t from colleagues and dedicated time to write.\nProgramme\n\n\n\n9.30am
 – Foregather\nThe meeting will open from 9.30 to allow participants to c
atch up virtually in smaller or larger breakout rooms.\n\n\n10.00am – Po
lish that Profile I\nKate Sotejeff-Wilson: Polish that Profile I\n\n Intr
oduction by Kate: tips on how to get started and setting our writing goals
for the first session.\n Working in small groups of three – 45 minutes
of writing. Kate will circulate to give advice.\n 15 minutes of feedback
on what you’ve written in the small groups.\n\n\n\n\n11.15am – Refres
hment break\nBreak-out rooms available for socialising in smaller groups\n
\n\n11.45am – Polish that Profile II\nPolish that Profile II\n\n Settin
g goals for the second session. Writing a sentence stating exactly what yo
u want to achieve in the next hour gives you focus. Put it in the chat\, a
nd you make yourself accountable to the group.\n New small groups of thre
e for writing. This gives you feedback from two new people on your profile
text\, either working on the same profile or changing to a different one.
As before\, 45 minutes to write and 15 minutes for small group feedback.\
n Final 15 minutes: decide on the next steps. Did you meet your writing g
oal? Are you ready to publish that profile? Do you first want to send it t
o someone who saw the first few sentences? When will you do that?\n\n\n\n\
